Information
This mansion is one of only three medieval private residences remaining in Paris. The other two are the Hôtel de Cluny and Jacques Coeur's house. Hôtel de Sens was built between 1475 and 1507. Its original inhabitant was the archbishop of Sens. At that time Paris was a dependency of Sens. During the sixteenth century it was a center of intrigue while the Cardinal of Guise lived there. In 1605 Queen Margot, the first wife of Henri IV lived here. Later, during 1689 - 1743, it was the office of the Lyons stage coach.
It now houses the Bibliothèque Forney - devoted to decorative and fine arts, as well as industrial techniques. It also has a large collection of posters and wall paper.
