Libya, the North African country known for its leader and dictator Ghaddafi by many, but also for the capital Tripoli, which was in Roman times a prosperous and thriving region.

Especially Leptis Magna, once the second city of the great Roman Empire, there are still many interesting archaeological structures intact. Although tourism, like Ghadaffi himself, has not been present for the last decade. Libya today is trying to boost its tourism by using the impressive archaeological sites it has to bestow.

Tourism is still sparsely active. If you wish to travel to Libya, you must be well informed as its largely an Islamic country.
