Situated at Hunderfossen 15 km north of Lillehammer, the Norwegian Museum of Road History presents information about Norwegian road and transport history. In the open-air museum, road environments connecting antiquarian buildings have been constructed, including among others a posting station from 1866 and a mechanical workshop and forge, as well as the house of a road maintenance worker, a cotter's farm and a camp site from the 1960s.

Our indoor exhibitions provide one thousand years of road history, with vehicles from different eras and a machinery exhibition featuring snow blowers and ploughs. Hunderfossen features detailed and graphic indoor and outdoor exhibits about Norwegian road and transport history. Open air museum. H. Blindheimsvik Country Store with exciting 50-60s atmospheres. Traffic Safety Centre, video and exhibition bring modern traffic scenarios to life.

You can test your traffic knowledge at our interactive road safety centre. We also recommend a walk around the open air museum. Visit 240 metre long tunnel which is home to the Norwegian Rock Blasting Museum. Enjoy a meal at Lysaker Gjestgiveri with its authentic interior from the 1800s.

The Norwegian Road Museum is located in a multi-purpose recreational area at the gateway to "the King of valleys", Gudbrandsdalen. The museum consists of an extensive indoor exhibition, as well as a 75-acre open-air museum featuring buildings, road systems, bridges, road building equipment and machines. Here you will experience both nature and road technology in a pleasant combination.
