Camping Kale Duinen is located on the outskirts of the State Forests of Appelscha.

The name is derived from the sand dunes lying nearby "The Kale Duinen", a desert-like area of over 100 hectares, an area of this size is unique in the Netherlands.

The Kale Duinen is a quiet camp ground. There are good sanitary facilities, showers, toilets and washing facilities.

Also, there is a washing machine provided.

Because the site is located, near beach and forest, in a beautiful area there are bicycles on offer and walking routes in all directions.

In the woods there are numerous cycling paths for many kilometres.

In addition there are beautiful walking trails which are all completely in the National Park "The Drents-Friese Wold".

Near The camp site Kale Duinen is the local lake (Aekingermeer). A good opportunity to sunbathe or relax on the beach or a refreshing dip in the water. For surfers, this is definitely a good location.

Camping Kale Duinen is centrally located in the corner of Axle Drachten-Steenwijk amidst the wooded area of the so-called Drenthe-Friese forrest.
