De Taj Mahal in Agra, India

The Taj Mahal is a landmark in the city of Agra in North India. The building is visited each year by between 2 and 4 million people. The architect of the Taj Mahal was named Ustad Ahmad Lahauri.

Originally the Taj Mahal is a mausoleum, commissioned by the Indian grootmogl Shah Jahan built. He did this for his head wife Mumtaz Mahal, but after his death he was buried there himself.

The 58-meter high Taj Mahal, whose name means 'The Crown of all Buildings', stands on a marble platform that is 100 meters by 100 meters wide. The attraction is perfectly symmetrical and is built entirely of white marble. The decorations are numerous and extremely detailed.

The tourists who visit the Taj Mahal should be paying much more than the natives Indians themselves. For the huge and beautiful gardens need not be paid, but to keep the Taj Mahal clean, no vehicles allowed with a combustion engine. If your already walked enough on your trip, you can take the electric bus that shuttles from the nearby car back and forth.

The Taj Mahal is open from morning 6am to evening 7 pm.

It's a great, great holy building, very impressive. When visiting Agra you can not not visit the Taj Mahal.

The surroundings are very poor. Watch your belongings.
