This southeastern European country situated in the Balkan counts a population of approximately 7.5 million inhabitants. The Republic of Bulgaria is bordered by the Black Sea on its east, by Romania on its north, by Serbia and Macedonia on its west and by Greece and Turkey on its southeast. The capitol is Sofia; the next important city is Burgas, which is the most important port in the Black Sea. The country is an active member of the NATO.
