Guatemala is located in Central America, bordering Mexico, Belize, Honduras and El Salvador.

The landscape of Guatemala is extremely varied and one of the reasons why tourists visit the country.

In the center and north of the country is a plateau with mountains and volcanic peaks above 4000 meters. In the department of Petén are the famous Mayan ruins of Tikal.

The southern coastal region and western part of Guatemala are relatively flat and are intensively used for the cultivation of sugarcane, fruit and livestock. The capital of the country is Guatemala City.

A trip to Guatemala is often taken for nature, but also for the Mayan civilization that disappeared years ago, leaving there structures still beautifully preserved and visible. Guatemala was in the fourth to the eleventh century, the heartland of the Maya, until the Spaniards conquered the region.
