Hungary: Travelling & Vacation

This central European country is landlocked by Austria on its west, Slovakia on its north, and Ukraine to the northeast, Romania, Serbia, and Slovenia border it on the south. The Danube cuts the country from north to south, the capital Budapest is situated on this river. The Tisza and Dráva are two other large rivers. Lake Balaton, which splits the west of Hungary in two parts, is the largest body of water in Europe. Lake Hévíz is the largest thermal lake in the world. Hungary has numerous of national parks and the land is defined by rolling plains and hills of the Carpathian Basin. It has just over 10 million inhabitants, 450.000 to 600.000 belong to the ethnic minority of the Roma’s (gypsies), which suffer particular problems such as school segregation.
