Hammerfest proudly claims to be the northernmost town in the world. The Hammerfest Rådhus (town hall) houses the renowned Royal and Ancient Polar Bear Society, founded in 1963 by two businessmen in Hammerfest. Their goal was to communicate Hammerfest’s history as an Arctic hunting and commercial center. Admission is free but membership in the club costs NOK 150 and gives you a certificate, sticker and pin. The income is used to finance the museum.Getting there: Located in the basement of the town hall.
