About Azikh Cave
Azikh is the largest karstic cave in the Republic of Azerbaijan. The interest is 14 km from the city Fizuli, in the Hadrut region, at an altitude of 900 m The cave complex consists of six cells connected.
Azikh is one of those rare caves of the Paleolithic period until 1960 was explored. In 1968 there was a fragment of a lower jaw found, which belonged to one of our ancestors, who lived about 350 thousand years ago (in the Ashel period).
This relic is one of the three such discoveries of the world and so rare. Azikh confirms that the territory of Azerbaijan a million years ago was inhabited by humans.
