Basildon sits in the heart of Essex, a postwar new town built from the 1940s onward to give Londoners space to breathe, and it still carries that pragmatic, community-first spirit today. Visitors often start their morning at one of the local cafes, then settle in for the evening at one of the hotels dotted around town.
