India is a vast country in South Asia. There are nearly 1.2 billion people living there, which makes it the second most populated country in the world. Only China has more inhabitants.

India has in recent years emerged as a holiday. Not only are there many beautiful beaches, but the rich history of the country makes for unforgettable sights. Tourism is the largest service industry in India. More than 6% is part of national GDP and provides more than 9% of total employment.

Each year there are more than 5 million foreign tourists visiting the country, while half of the population (more than 550 million people) play to roles of the beautiful Indian domestic tourist places and sightseeing.

Both Visa and vaccinations are needed to travel to India this is mandatory. Namely the vaccination for yellow fever is required. If the passengers are going or have been to a country where yellow fever has been in the last seven days they must get vaccinations. Injections that are recommended are DTP, hepetitis A and vaccination against typhoid fever.

Travel to India can be an unforgettable experience. Almost everyone is nice to tourists. Many sites where entrance fee needs to be paid, use a two-price system: the foreign tourist pay (much) more than the native tourist population.

If you go shopping at the various malls which each city is rich in (markets are everywhere), you need to bargain. This is part of the culture, and is also done by the indigenous people of India. A quick 'this is too expensive', or even questionable look at price, helps the merchant decide that the price needs to be drastically reduced. But only then starts the real game. Usually there are three, four or even five "knock rounds' needed to get the price to drop down enough. Please note: the price offered is often ten times higher than the price you actually should buy it for.

India is a beautiful holiday destination, where the cultural beauties and amazing history are embraced by the local population, which is also now beginning to adapt to technological and medical progress of the country.
