Lillehammer traces its fame to the 1994 Winter Olympics, but the small Oppland town on Lake Mjøsa has stayed easy to love long after the crowds went home. Wooden storehouses line the pedestrian street Storgata, and the surrounding hills fill up with cross-country skiers each winter. With around 25,000 residents, it punches well above its size when it comes to eating out — browse the local restaurants and cafes, or dig into Norwegian history at the museums.
