The Strong Museum Vars (NL: Forces Museum) shows the history of Norwegian defence from the Middle Ages to the years after World War II.

The museum is located on the lower part of the Akershus Fortress, about five minutes walk from Karl Johans Gate. Admission is free. The museum also has a café and a museum shop.

In about two hours you can go hiking through the Norwegian defence history. This gives insight into the development of the armed forces, but also the war and peace periods in Norway and adjacent areas through the ages. The exhibition shows how the soldiers, military thinking and the reality of war has been with technological, economic and political developments closely involved.
