Nairn sits where the River Nairn meets the Moray Firth, a former fishing town whose long sandy beaches and mild "sunshine coast" microclimate have drawn holidaymakers since Victorian times. Its harbour and old fishertown streets still give the place a working seaside character, best appreciated over a slow coffee at one of the cafes before settling into one of the hotels along the front.
