About Camping De Schaopvolte
Camping Schaopvolte is located in the most beautiful area of North Drenthe to Schoonoord. In the State Forests of ± 2500 ha., Near the camp, is the true nature lovers and adventure campers ideal spot with everything they could possibly want. These forests provide vast avenues, beautiful marshes and fields are all bird and animal species that elsewhere, would have no chance at life with.
The name of the site is taken from a pond (the Schaopwas) at ± 100 meters from the camp site, where several generations back the sheep would gather there and were driven to be washed before shaven. The entrance of the camp is an old railway station called Stadskanaal-Assen. At the camp site there are still some old trains which two have been converted into a cosy cafeteria where you can enjoy a tasty meal, a quick snack or a tasty drink.
