About Slangenburg
hree kilometers east of Doetinchem is the Slangenburg, an estate from the 17th century.
The castle with the surrounding lands have been closely associated with the Achterhoekse
population in the area.
Farmers and craftsmen settled there in small farms and other businesses.
In the area arose in the course of the centuries several hamlets.
Benedictine monks settled after World War II in the built themselves by St. Willibrord Abbey. The vast area is a pleasant mix
of forest, ecologically managed natural and cultural landscape.
